This blog is aimed at giving you some inspiration and ideas for teaching from third grade to sixth grade in the month of July.
Firstly, these monthly close reading books come packed with ideas and resources that look at key events from history that happened in July, or some famous figures that were born or died in the month. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter; the powerful leader of Ancient Greece, Alexander the Great; and the famous scientist, Nikola Tesla. July was a key month in the American Civil War, with the Battle of Gettysburg taking place from the 1st to the 3rd July 1863. Apollo 11 landed on the Moon’s surface on the 21st July 1969, ensuring the United States won the ‘Space Race’, and allowing Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to become the first people to set foot on the Moon. Another space expedition was launched on the 30th July 2020 when the Perseverance Mars Rover was launched.
