If you are a teacher from third to sixth grade and are looking for new activities to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, look no further! MLK Day is celebrated on the third day of January each year.

First of all this Escape Room activity is a fantastic way for your students to learn about the inspirational civil rights leader in a fun, interactive and engaging way. Students can complete the activity individually or as part of a team.

     

Or try these close readings or reading comprehension activities. These are differentiated for either fifth and sixth grade, or third and fourth grade. Each comes with an informational text with comprehension and grammar questions, a writing extension task, a crossword puzzle and a wordsearch activity.

     

For an in depth look into the life of Martin Luther King, try these biography writing units. Each unit contains three to four hours of activities with students reading and sorting facts, drafting paragraphs and then completing a neat biography ready for display.
