Ancient Nubia Mega Bundle of Activities | 5th Grade & 6th Grade

This bundle contains five close reading activities about Ancient Nubia and key figures; a timeline display and sorting activity; two biography writing units about Piye the Great and Queen Amanirenas; an informational writing unit; an opinion writing unit discussing the most influential figure; and a Kingdom of Kush map activity.

Firstly, there are five reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• An Overview of Ancient Nubia
• The Kingdom of Kush
• King Piye the Great
• Advancements of Ancient Nubia
• Queen Amanirenas

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, a crossword and a wordsearch for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document. Each also comes with a teacher presentation to introduce the topic.

Then, there is our Kingdom of Kush Empire Map Activities and Presentation. This hands-on resource brings history and geography to life. Students will explore the lands of Ancient Nubia and beyond, uncover the secrets of major cities, and trace the civilization at its peak.

Then, there are two biography writing units about Piye the Great and Queen Amanirenas. These unite have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Then, there is an informational writing unit about Ancient Nubia. The unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Also, there is an opinion writing unit about which figure was the most influential: Piye the Great, Taharqa or Queen Amanirenas. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is an Ancient Nubia Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of the period. There are 31 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the era.
